Welcome to Rachel’s
String Studio

Please take a moment to review our Studio Policies.

Adult Policy

Tuition

Yearly tuition for 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons is a set fee. Your tuition guarantees that I will be present to teach for 40 weeks and will be divided into twelve equal payments. Tuition is due by the 1st of every month. A 10% late fee will be assessed for late payments.

Parental Involvement

Parent involvement is vital to a student’s progress as a musician. The Studio recommends that parents be present and active in lessons and practice for students of all ages. For students ages 12 and under, parent attendance and engagement are required. Parents will meet with the teacher every January to discuss their student’s progress and identify how both parent and teacher can help the student reach their goals. Additional meetings are available by appointment.

Group Classes

Group classes are an effective way for students to make friends with their peers, reinforce what they are learning in private lessons, learn from more advanced students/have teaching opportunities, and play chamber music. Group classes will be held every month. Students will perform for each other, learn how to give constructive feedback, and solve problems they may run into while practicing. They will also learn theory, ear training, and history. Parents are required to attend for children 8 & under.

Missed Lessons

If a student misses a lesson, they will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. Remember that your tuition pays for far more than just lesson time with your child. You can also opt to use the swap list, Facetime, Skype, or simply call to chat about your child’s progress during the time reserved for your child.

Communication

Please feel free to email me anytime. Calls/zoom meetings are available by appointment. If you need to miss a lesson, please notify me immediately. Feel free to write to me anytime about what is happening with your child or ask questions. I love hearing from you!

Student Commitment

Regular practice is imperative to learn how to play proficiently. A minimum of 30 minutes of practice, five days a week, is required. Participation in recitals and group classes is required.

Recitals

Recitals are a great way to share your progress with family and friends. They are also vital to a student’s growth; progress often slows without a goal to work toward. Students are required to participate in every recital. Please stay for the entirety of the recitals to support your peers.
Recitals will count as your lesson that week. If you wish to go over your performance piece with your teacher before the recital, please email them to schedule a meeting time.

Dismissals and Termination

One months notice is required if you must stop lessons for any reason. At that time, I will pro-rate the tuition for your final month to reflect the number of lessons that you have received based on the last lesson date. You will be required to pay this balance within 30 days.  Regrettably, I will have to dismiss a student if any of these  circumstances occur:

• Failure to pay tuition on time
• Less than 80% attendance (this includes lessons, recitals, and group classes)
• Uncooperative attitude
• Failure to follow practice as instructed
• Lack of progress due to insufficient practice or unfulfilled requirements

I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach you or your child. I appreciate your business and the light you bring into my life!
